The 2010 Aston Martin One-77: My number one

Over the last few years super cars have reached a completely new and some would say absurd level. However for the person who wants to drive a truly exclusive high performance car the multimillion dollar price tag is well worth it. That would definitely be the case with the 2010 Aston Martin One-77. Although very expensive it offers performance that you can't get anywhere else.

Aston Martin One-77The main reason that the 2010 Aston Martin One-77 is my number one exciting car is that it is the very epitome of the super car. It is basically a street legal racing car capable of speeds that are well in excess of two hundred miles per hour. The reason that it can reach those kinds of speeds is the enormous engine that the car has. The One-77 features a 7.3 liter normally aspirated V12 engine that produces about seven hundred fifty horse power. It is claimed to be the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine in the world. The fact that it is a naturally aspirated engine is actually one of the most appealing features. Despite all of the power that they produce turbocharged engines are just not all that fun to drive. They don't feel right and they don't sound right when they are accelerating.

The other big factor in producing the enormous speeds that the Aston Martin One-77 is capable of reaching is the lightweight chassis that the car has. It uses a carbon fiber moncoque chassis to add strength and keep the weight down. Again this is technology that comes right off of the race track. The body of the car is hand crafted aluminium again to keep the weight down. The result is a car that weighs about fifteen hundred kilograms. Given the huge engine size this is a remarkably lightweight.

A powerful but lightweight car will go fast in a straight line but there is more to performance than just straight line speed. The One-77 was also designed to handle well at speed. In this regard the suspension is again adapted from racing car technology to allow the car to get around corners quickly. The six speed gearbox and carbon ceramic brakes really help with acceleration and braking.

The Aston Martin One-77 is definitely a super car but getting your hands on one is not going to be easy. The production run will consist of just seventy seven cars, hence the name. For the lucky few who are able to get their hands on one the price tag will run somewhere around two million dollars. That is a lot of money to spend on a car but for the enthusiast who can afford it, it is money well spent. There is no other car that can match the driving experience of the Aston Martin One-77.
